Mr. Travis Fanning. Mr. Fanning is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. From an early age, he committed to better things for the future, thus choosing a career as an educator. In his 3 years as Superintendent, Travis has led the district through the COVID-19 pandemic, implemented new academic and extra-curricular programs, and most recently, led BISD to receive a B rating for the first time in the district's history.
Before joining Beeville ISD, Mr. Fanning served as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary School Administration in Cypress Fairbanks ISD where he supervised secondary campuses with over 60,000 students total. He also spent a significant portion of his career in Galena Park ISD, where he was Rookie Teacher and Teacher of the Year. Mr. Fanning received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Alabama A&M University and a Master of Science in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He is currently working on his Doctoral degree at Baylor University. Fanning has worked as a principal at multiple levels, college field supervisor, assistant principal, GEAR UP Advisor, and mathematics teacher.
Travis believes in giving back to his community. He was a Cy-Hope and Leadership North Houston board member for several years. Mr. Fanning is also an active member of his church and various professional organizations; Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Bee Area Partnership, and the Beeville Rotary Club.
Travis enjoys traveling, exercising, and attending sporting events with his family in his spare time. Fanning brags that his most significant accomplishments are marrying his wife of almost 19 years and being a father to their one son, Micah. Fanning's favorite quote is by Alex Haley, "Anytime you see a turtle up on top of a fence post, you know he had some help." Travis's life mission is mentoring young men and women of interested in being courageous leaders in public education.
